The LUMIGLAS® LSQ-075-M400 Observation Port is the flagship model of the LSQ-075 series — a 3/4″ NPT inline high-temperature sight glass fitting purpose-engineered for the most demanding thermal process environments on the market. The body is precision-machined from Monel® 400 (UNS N04400), a nickel-copper alloy renowned for its exceptional resistance to elevated temperatures, oxidising and reducing atmospheres, and corrosive process media.
A fused quartz lens (SiO₂ ≥99.9%) delivers uncompromised optical clarity while withstanding rapid thermal cycling without risk of fracture.
With a maximum operating temperature of 1832°F / 1000°C and a pressure rating of 50 PSI (3.45 bar), the LSQ-075-M400 is the specified inline observation port for industrial furnaces and kilns where standard brass or stainless steel sight glass fittings cannot survive continuous service. Why Specify the LSQ-075-M400 Monel® 400 Observation Port?
Standard brass and stainless steel observation ports reach their material limits well below the operating temperatures of industrial furnaces, kilns, and high-temperature reactors. The LSQ-075-M400 Monel® 400 inline sight glass closes this specification gap with body alloy and lens material selected specifically for extreme-temperature continuous service — not rated upward from ambient-condition designs. Where the LSQ-075-S (SS316) reaches its ceiling at 1000°F / 538°C, the Monel® 400 body of the LSQ-075-M400 extends rated service to 1832°F / 1000°C.
The fused quartz lens (SiO₂ ≥99.9%) carries a near-zero coefficient of thermal expansion, eliminating the thermally induced stress fractures that limit borosilicate glass in rapid-cycle or extreme-temperature process conditions. Monel® 400 (UNS N04400) simultaneously resists oxidising and reducing atmospheres, sulphuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, and alkaline media — making the LSQ-075-M400 the correct corrosion-resistant high temperature observation port choice for chemically aggressive process environments as well as purely thermal ones.

Install without applying thrust, bending, or torsional stress directly to the fused quartz lens. - !
Ensure proper pipe alignment before final tightening — misalignment imposes bending loads that may fracture the lens even at ambient temperature. - !
Use a high-temperature thread sealant rated and compatible with Monel® 400 alloy. Standard PTFE tape is not suitable for service above 260°C. - !
Verify actual process temperature and pressure against rated limits (1832°F / 1000°C; 50 PSI / 3.45 bar) before installation. Do not exceed rated values under any operating condition. - !
