Description
The DIN7080 sight glass with center bore is a standard industrial sight window disc used for level gauges and inspection ports.
It is available in borosilicate glass (high-temperature, chemical-resistant), tempered soda-lime, and sapphire on request.
We supply DIN7080-certified discs, test reports, and custom sizes for OEMs and plant replacements.
Why choose this DIN7080 sight glass?
- Standard-compliant: Manufactured to meet DIN7080 dimensions and material guidance for sight glass discs.
- Center hole (access bore): allows probes, thermowells or screw fittings to pass through while maintaining sealing options.
- Material options: borosilicate (preferred for high-temp/chemical), quartz or sapphire for extreme conditions.
- Traceable quality: batch COA and material test reports available on request.
Standard parameters — DIN 7080 (sight glass discs with centre hole)
| Standard | DIN 7080 (sight glass discs with centre hole) |
|---|---|
| Typical materials | Borosilicate glass 3.3, tempered soda-lime, fused silica (quartz glass), sapphire glass (on request) |
| Common thickness range | 2 mm – 25 mm(customizable) |
| Center bore (d1) | Typically 10.5 mm (common), other bore sizes available — confirm when ordering |
| Available diameters (examples) | 63×10, 80×12, 94×12, 100×15, 125×15 … up to 250×25 mm |
| Service temperature | Borosilicate up to ~280°C (depending on thickness & mounting) |
| Chemical resistance | Good vs. most acids/alkalis (avoid HF); see material datasheet |
| Certificates | DIN7080 / DIN8902 certificates, material & test reports (COA) available |
Applications
- Level gauge glass for tanks and boilers
- Process sight windows on reactors, mixers, and vessels

Technical notes — installation & safety
- Ensure seating surfaces and gaskets are clean before installation; avoid uneven torque, which can stress the glass.
- For pressurized service, follow the flange & gasket manufacturer’s guidance and use certified personnel for replacement.
- Inspect the sight glass periodically for chips or crazing; replace damaged discs immediately to avoid containment failure.
FAQ
- Q: What is the centre hole for?
- A: The centre bore typically accepts a screw, thermowell, probe or sight glass plug depending on assembly design. Tell us the exact bore diameter and flange type when ordering.
- Q: Which material is best?
- A: For general process use, borosilicate glass is the best balance of thermal and chemical resistance. For UV/optical or extreme temperature use, quartz or sapphire may be required.
- Q: Do you provide DIN certificates?
- A: Yes — material certificates and DIN7080 conformity information can be provided with order. Specify document needs at RFQ stage.
