Description

PMMA tube, commonly called acrylic tube or organic tube, is a clear thermoplastic tube prized for high optical clarity and light weight. PMMA vs PC vs Glass — short guide

PMMA provides excellent optical clarity and is lightweight. However, polycarbonate (PC) offers superior impact resistance while borosilicate glass gives the best chemical and high-temperature performance. Therefore, choose PMMA when optical clarity and cost are priorities; choose PC for impact-prone locations; choose glass for high temperature or aggressive chemicals.

1. Is PMMA safe for outdoor use?
Standard PMMA can yellow under prolonged UV exposure. Use UV-stabilized grade for outdoor installations
2. Can PMMA be used for pressure sight tubes?
PMMA is suitable for low/medium pressure. For higher pressure, choose thicker walls and proper end fittings or consider PC/borosilicate glass. See datasheet for guidance.
3. How should I clean PMMA?
Use mild soap and water; avoid solvents such as acetone or MEK, which can craze the surface. Refer to the compatibility PDF.
