Top-Chem 2003 — Modified PTFE Gasket (filled with hollow glass-microspheres)
Top-Chem 2003 is a PTFE gasket sheet filled with hollow glass-microspheres, engineered for high compressibility and reliable sealing at low surface loads. Excellent chemical resistance for acidic/alkaline services; available in food-grade/FDA conforming variants.
Description
Top-Chem 2003 is a modified PTFE sealing material filled with hollow glass-microspheres to combine PTFE’s chemical inertness with improved compressibility and low cold-flow behaviour. Its formulation gives excellent tightness even at low bolt loads or on delicate flange faces, making it particularly suitable for glass-lined reactors, plastic/FRP flanges and other sensitive assemblies.
Key benefits
- High compressibility & adaptability — achieves reliable sealing under low surface pressure and on non-ideal flange faces.
- Excellent chemical resistance — suitable for strongly acidic and alkaline media.
- Fire-safe certified — Top-Chem 2000 is the only PTFE gasket material awarded a Fire-Safe certificate (improves safety in fire scenarios).
- High mechanical strength — performs reliably at high surface pressures and elevated temperatures.
- FDA conformity available — suitable grades for food / pharmaceutical contact where required.
Typical applications
-
Glass-lined reactors and vessels (protecting fragile linings).
-
Low-bolt or delicate flange assemblies (plastic/FRP/soft flanges).
-
Chemical process lines handling strong acids/alkalis.
-
Food, pharmaceutical and semiconductor where FDA/EU conformity is required (select grades).
Why choose TOP CHEM modified PTFE
TOP-CHEM® 2003 offers a unique combination of very high compressibility and excellent chemical resistance thanks to its hollow glass-microsphere filler. That means reliable sealing even where bolt loads are limited or flange faces are delicate — without sacrificing PTFE’s chemical inertness. For applications where flange integrity, low retightening frequency and compatibility with aggressive acids/alkalis are paramount, Top-Chem 2003 delivers dependable long-term tightness and reduced maintenance.
