Polycarbonate Tube (PC Tube)
Polycarbonate tube (PC tube) — clear, high-impact sight tubes and protective tubes. UV stabilized, custom lengths, datasheet & pressure guidance available.
Description
Polycarbonate (PC) tube is a clear, high-impact thermoplastic tube used for sight glass applications, protective guards, and laboratory tubing. It offers excellent impact resistance and good optical clarity. We provide UV-stabilized options, custom length,s and drilled/flanged end machining for instrument and sight glass use. Download the datasheet for pressure guidance and dimensional options.
Quick product highlights
- Material: Polycarbonate (PC) — clear, high-impact thermoplastic.
- Clarity: High optical transparency close to 88–90% light transmission (depends on thickness).
- Temperature range: −60°C to +120°C continuous; short-term up to ~135°C (see datasheet).
- Impact resistance: Far superior to glass and acrylic; resists shatter in many applications.
- Options: UV-stabilized, anti-static, flame-retardant grades, drilled holes, or machined ends.
Typical specifications
Features & benefits
- Safer than glass: less likely to fragment on impact.
- Lightweight: easier to handle and install than glass equivalents.
- Custom machining: we can CNC machine threads, holes, slots, and flange seats to drawing.
- Cost-effective: often lower total cost vs. glass when replacement risk is considered.
Applications
Polycarbonate tubes are commonly used as sight tubes on vessels and instruments, protective windows, flow indicators, pilot lights, lab equipment and guard shields in machinery. They are ideal where impact resistance and weight are priorities.
