C-4430 — Fibre-reinforced gasket material

C-4430 is a high-performance compressed fibre gasket sheet reinforced with aramid and glass fibres and bound with NBR rubber. It provides outstanding creep resistance, stress retention, and chemical compatibility, making it ideal for heat exchangers, pipelines, valves, and refinery or chemical process equipment.

Description

C-4430 is a compressed fibre gasket sheet made from an engineered blend of synthetic (aramid) and glass fibres with a nitrile (NBR) binder. The material is formulated for excellent resistance to hot water and steam, and shows good resistance to oils, fuels, hydrocarbons, lubricants and many common process media. It is a general-purpose, high-temperature sealing sheet used where durable flange tightness and reduced retightening are required.

Key benefits

  • Excellent steam & hot-water performance — retains sealing function at elevated temperatures.
  • Good stress-relaxation / creep behaviour — maintains bolt load and reduces maintenance. Typical stress-relaxation results reported by KLINGER show strong retention under 50 MPa at elevated temperatures.
  • Broad chemical compatibility — resistant to oils, fuels, hydrocarbons, salts, moderate acids and alkalis in many service cases.
  • Proven tightness — low leak rates and low gas permeability in standard tests, suitable for many industrial flange joints.

Applications & industries

  • Steam systems, hot-water lines and heat exchangers.

  • Chemical and petrochemical plants (piping, valves, pumps).

  • Refineries, power plants, marine and general industrial equipment requiring steam/oil resistance.

Why choose C-4430?

C-4430 is a proven, general-purpose compressed fibre gasket designed to combine steam/water resistance with strong stress retention and broad media compatibility. Its NBR binder plus synthetic/glass-fibre matrix gives balanced compressibility and recovery — making C-4430 a reliable choice where long-term flange tightness, reduced retightening and resistance to oils/hydrocarbons are required. For steam-heated systems or mixed-media plants that demand consistent performance under thermal cycling, C-4430 offers a well-researched, widely used solution.

Installation & handling notes

  • Ensure flange faces are clean, flat and free from old gasket residue.

  • Use appropriate centering and, where applicable, inner/outer rings to protect the sealing face.

  • Follow recommended bolt-torque and tightening sequence — avoid over-torqueing.

  • For high-temperature or steam service consult KLINGER p-T selection guidance and our technical team.
