Top-Chem 2006 — Modified PTFE Gasket (Barium-sulfate filled)
Top-Chem 2006 is a pigment-free, barium-sulfate filled PTFE gasket material engineered for superior performance in strongly alkaline media. It offers low cold-flow, good mechanical properties at medium/low temperatures and is available in standard sheet sizes and cut-to-size gaskets.
Description
Top-Chem 2006 is a modified PTFE sealing sheet based on PTFE filled with barium sulfate. The material is formulated to deliver PTFE’s excellent chemical inertness while improving mechanical performance and resistance to cold-flow in alkaline service. It is pigment-free and particularly suited for chemical industry applications where alkaline media and gentle flange loading are common.
Key benefits
- Excellent resistance in strongly alkaline media — optimized formulation for alkali service.
- Reduced cold-flow / improved dimensional stability compared with virgin PTFE — helps maintain bolt load and long-term tightness.
- Pigment-free and FDA-compatible grades available for food and pharmaceutical uses.
- Good mechanical behaviour at medium/low temperatures and loads, suitable for a wide range of process applications.
Typical applications
-
Chemical process plants handling alkaline media (pH-high environments).
-
Glass-lined reactors, plastic/FRP flanges and other delicate flange faces where low-stress sealing is required.
-
Food, beverage and pharmaceutical process lines (select FDA-conforming grades).
-
General chemical engineering applications requiring long-term tightness and low maintenance.
Why choose TOP CHEM modified PTFE
TOP-CHEM® 2006 is specifically engineered for strongly alkaline process environments where conventional PTFE can suffer from excessive cold-flow or reduced mechanical performance. By using a barium-sulfate filled PTFE base, Top-Chem 2006 maintains PTFE’s chemical inertness while significantly improving dimensional stability and sealing reliability under repeated thermal and mechanical cycles. Choose Top-Chem 2006 when you need a pigment-free, FDA-compatible PTFE gasket material that delivers long-term tightness, lower maintenance and proven alkali resistance in demanding chemical applications.
